It’s finally here! Sunday February 11th, 2024! And what does the Playground have in store for you?! The Pile-Up at 3 pm CST of course but then STAY AFTER for the SUPERBOWL immediately following! Upgrades in Destin!

Dave KD7KE, Rick KK4WDR, and Dave KM4DYR changed the 145.230 antenna today. The new antenna has 6db gain on 2 meters, increasing coverage and improving weak signals.

It’s time again to join the fun of another Winter Field Day! Playground Amateur Radio will be hosting at the clubhouse for you to come on down and make some contacts!

Our Station Trustee and Amateur Extra, Ed (AA0EU), and our club Vice President, Bob (KK4SSM) are looking forward to seeing you in downtown Fort Walton Beach (17 First St SE) starting at 1pm on Saturday, January 27th. The clubhouse will be open throughout the 24-hour event, so please come help yourself to some contacts and comradery in our shared hobby!

We hope to visit with plenty of Hams from all along the Emerald Coast, and are looking forward to sharing our stations with you! As always, we will have hot coffee ready and snacks are always welcome in our meeting room!

Speaking of stations, maybe you’d like to set up your own equipment outside to make some contacts? Playground Amateur Radio Club is happy to accommodate!

It’s FOX Hunt Week!

Break out your gear! Break out your radios! Break out your skills! Come and HUNT the FOX!

The Playground Amateur Radio club is ready and we are going to have a fun time hosting the PARC FOX Hunt! Join in and seek out the prize!

Play ground Amateur Radio Club is proudly hosting a Fox Hunt! We will Begin at the club house in downtown Fort Walton Beach, where hunters will pay $5 each to hunt, and the winning Hunter will split the pot with the club! At the Fox’s location, we will be holding a BBQ for all participants at noon. If you would like to contribute a side dish, or have further questions regarding this event, please contact the Activities Director, Queenie at KQ4FRB@gmail.com
This is an all-ages event, and no license is required to hunt, as the Fox will be the only one transmitting! Come one, come all! Bring your friends and family to work as a team! Looking forward to seeing you all!

Thank you and Have a great Holiday Season! All who showed up for the Potluck and gift exchange sure had a great time! Representatives for  the Panhandle of Florida were all present from Playground Amateur Radio Club, North Okaloosa Amateur Radio Club, Walton County Amateur Radio Club, Okaloosa County ARES, Walton County ARES, Walton County CERT, and the Northern Florida Amateur Radio Relay League Assistant Section Manager!

Hats off to the creator and officiator of the event, the Playground Amateur Radio Club’s very own Activities Director, KQ4FRB! Queenie has been a ham less than a year but has become one of the Clubs strongest supporters and promoters. She worked hand in hand with the other clubs and organizations listed above to plan a date and coordinate all of the food, drinks, prizes, giveaways, and raffle items! This is an annual event and is one not to be missed! We will see which Club or Organization hosts next years! Stay tuned to you favorite ham Calendar with the Playground Amateur Radio Club for future events and more partnerships in Northwest Florida!

 

 

Veterans Helping Veterans, Showcasing the Positivity of Amateur Radio

Are you a veteran, active duty member, Guardsman, or Reservist? Come out and join the Veterans Helping Veterans event in Niceville Florida on September 23, 2023 from 1100am – 400pm. We will be there with many other non-profit organizations showcasing the positivity and wonder of Amateur Radio! Live radio demonstrations with information on everything from making simple contacts to world-wide communications! We will also be introducing you to the club’s and organizations in the immediate area which interact civically, politically and benefit the community in not only emergency management, but also fellowship opportunities!
